Grinding aids are generally surface-active substances, which can improve the grinding efficiency and reduce the power consumption of grinding operations. It is an effective means for cement enterprises to improve economic benefits.

During the fine grinding process, the particles are gradually refined and the surface area is increased. Its surface is charged due to broken bonds, particles adsorb to each other and agglomerate, reducing the crushing efficiency. Adding a small amount of grinding aid can prevent particle agglomeration and improve material flowability. Therefore, the grinding efficiency is improved and the grinding time is shortened.

For example, a suitable amount of oleic acid is added during dry grinding of alumina, and a small amount of aluminum chloride is added during wet grinding. Add a certain amount of sulfurous acid pulp waste liquid when grinding ordinary porcelain.

There are many types of grinding aids, which vary with the grinding material. Generally, high molecular compounds:  triethanolamine,  triisopropanolamine, diethanolisopropanolamine, etc. are the preferred materials.

For cement grinding aids, it can be defined as: one or more surface-active substances that can improve the grinding performance of materials in cement processing and increase the grinding efficiency by no more than 0.5%. Grinding aids have the advantages of less investment, quick effect, simple operation, and improved physical properties of cement, etc., and they have been paid more and more attention.
